This Snake-shaped Temple is a Hidden Gem of Telangana
Have you ever been to the snake-shaped Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Telangana? This colossal architecture with a statue of Lord Krishna dancing on the head of Kaliya, a multi-headed snake, is a hidden gem amid verdant hills located 150 kms away from Hyderabad. God Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, killing demon Hiranyakashyap is the presiding deity of the temple. The idol of God Narasimha can be found at the end of the tunnel.
Interestingly, the passage to the idol is the abdominal cavity of the curled-up snake with five heads. The cavernous structure leads to the temple inside. Located in a walking distance from the Vemulawada-Karimnagar Highway, the hilltop temple features a statue of God Narasimha Swamy breaking his way out of a pillar at the entrance. Statues of various mythological figures are lined on both sides of the serpentine tunnel, depicting stories including the one of Prahalad and Hiranyakashyap.
Located in Nampally, this snake-shaped temple is a true architectural wonder. To enter, you'll have to find the snake's belly - and as you walk through the serpentine shrine's curvy tunnels, you'll be greeted with statues of mythological figures depicting the story of Prahlada and Hiranyakashipu.
