India’s Official Statement
1. Background: Operation SINDOOR & India’s Restraint
During the May 7 press briefing on Operation SINDOOR, India had emphasized a "focused, measured, and non-escalatory" response, clarifying that no Pakistani military sites were initially targeted. (Live Updates: Operation Sindoor)
However, India had warned that any attack on its military facilities would be met with a firm response.
2. Pakistan’s Overnight Aggression (May 7-8, 2025)
Pakistan launched missile and drone strikes at Indian military locations, including:
J&K: Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu
Punjab: Pathankot, Amritsar, Adampur, Chandigarh
Rajasthan/Gujarat: Nal, Phalodi, Bhuj
All threats were neutralized by India’s advanced defence systems. Debris recovered confirms Pakistan’s role.
3. India’s Retaliation
At dawn, the Indian Armed Forces struck back, destroying multiple Pakistani Air Defence radars in a proportionate response.
Confirmed: A critical Air Defence system in Lahore was neutralized.
4. Escalation Along LoC
Pakistan intensified indiscriminate mortar & artillery fire in:
Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri (Kashmir)
Poonch, Rajouri (Jammu)
Tragically, 16 civilians (including 3 women & 5 children) were killed. Indian forces retaliated to silence Pakistani guns.
5. India’s Stance: Restraint with Resolve
The Indian Armed Forces reaffirm their commitment to de-escalation—but only if Pakistan ceases hostilities. Any further aggression will be met with swift and decisive action.
India has just issued a statement saying that it neutralised attempts by Pakistan on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday to "engage a number of military targets" in northern and western India using "drones and missiles".
When India struck 24 terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, it ensured that no military installations were targeted. However, Islamabad's response was escalatory, as it attempted to strike multiple military targets in northern and western India. India retaliated by targeting air defense radars at several locations in Pakistan, neutralizing one in Lahore.
The government's official statement late last night clarified that the Operation Sindoor airstrikes on Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed terror infrastructure were 'focused, measured, and non-escalatory.' It specifically emphasized that Pakistani military installations had not been targeted but reiterated that any attack on Indian military facilities would invite a swift and appropriate response.
Despite this, late last night, Pakistan attempted to target military installations in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj using drones and missiles.
